Willie Cornell was born in Mildenhall (Mildenhall Q3-1890 4A:715), son of William and Sarah CORNELL (née LEVETT).

1891 census...Aged 1, he was at Half Moon Place, Mildenhall with his father William CORNELL [37] a sawyer born Icklingham; his mother Sarah [31] born Eriswell and sister Susannah [3] born Mildenhall.

1901 census...Aged 11 he was at Thetford Road, Mildenhall with his parents; sisters Susannah and Annie [9] and brother Johnnie [4], both born in Mildenhall.

His mother died in 1902.

1911 census...Aged 21, a bricklayer, he was at Thetford Road, Mildenhall with his widower father ( now a gardener); sister Louisa [Annie?] and brother John, assistant in cycle shop.


He enlisted in Bury St. Edmunds. His Army service records have not been found
As he died in a base hospital and no records have been found it is impossible to accurately say where or when he may have been wounded. The 7th Suffolks were in Reserve near Beaurains at the end of August, involved mainly in raiding parties.

He died in No.13 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne.
